Hello there, friend and welcome to travelwithlinda.com. I am your host Linda Sarandes, a witty, light-hearted, empty nesting, baby boomer who has chucked it all — furniture included — to meander the open roads, dusty trails, dark caves and muddy ruts of the world. There will be fun! There will be adventure!! There will be margaritas!!!
Ok. Seriously. I am an enthusiastic world traveler, writer and photographer who has had the opportunity to visit 65 countries in the last 20 years covering most on my bucket list except those ending in “stan”… you know, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. Not that there’s anything wrong with Stan. In fact, I knew a guy named Stan once… but that’s a whole other story.
As you can imagine, this has been a real life (and Linda) changing experience. I have learned many lessons along the way, the most poignant being that no matter where you are in the world, people are people are people. Their stories, like our own, are colored by the innate desire for love, shelter, food, water and community. Witnessing the struggle has ignited a soul stirring appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. I am forever humbled by what my eyes have seen. With that comes great love, compassion and understanding for my fellow (hu)man. I’ve discovered that the people of the world — the individual man, woman and child — can touch your heart if you are open to the possibilities.
Okay, enough of the serious stuff, let’s get back to the real reason you’re here… FUN!
I’d like to think (and hope you’ll agree) that my travel blog balances a snarky sense of humor with outlandish adventure and wide-eyed, child-like wonder for what’s waiting around every corner. I want to surprise you. I want to amaze you. I want to show you people, places and unique adventures that you never imagined. I want to show you that you too — yes, you! — can venture off the Safety Sidewalk (a.k.a. Snoresville) at the ripe, young age of, err… Fifty. Something. You did get the memo, right? Fifty is the new thirty. And Sixty is the new Forty. Seventy and Eighty? No matter what your passport says, we’re not ageists around here. Bring it on!! Whoooot!!
Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to spread the joy to family and friends. Why? Because my fellow humanitarians, travelwithlinda.com is committed to donating 20% of after tax profits to www.water.org so when you share, subscribe and follow my adventures on facebook, twitter and youtube you will be helping to bring clean drinking water to those in dire need.
Why water? Well, you can read more about that here. But I’ll leave you with this:
“Once you have seen, you cannot pretend that you don’t know.”
*Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, nor have I ever played one on TV, so I strongly suggest that you consult with your personal physician before embarking on any of the, here to fore said, mind blowing, life altering, make you squeal with delight experiences that are presented on this unique and cultured website.
Warning: Above said travel adventures may be habit forming.
Travelwithlinda.com … bringin’ you the good stuff.
